Build Your Cabin Crew Skills
Your communication style, grooming, and physical presence are evaluated in the first 30 seconds of an interview. Let’s work together to polish your skills so you stand out instantly.
🗣️ 1. English & Communication Prep
Aviation communication isn’t just about speaking English—it’s about clarity, empathy, and professionalism under pressure. Recruiters listen closely to your pronunciation, voice modulation, and active listening. Here are the core pillars to practice daily:
Clear Pronunciation & Pace
Aim for a calm, professional pace of 120–130 words per minute. Avoid rushing, and focus on correcting any Mother Tongue Influence (MTI) by practicing reading aloud daily. Pronounce consonants clearly.
Active Listening & Precision
Pay close attention to what the recruiter asks. Answer directly without beating around the bush. Concise, well-structured, and polite answers demonstrate cabin-ready professionalism.
Volume & Voice Modulation
Keep a friendly, positive, and resonant tone. Speak loudly enough to be heard clearly across a room without sounding aggressive. A gentle smile while speaking naturally modulates your pitch to sound warmer.
Self-Introduction Speech Builder
Structure a high-impact, professional 1-minute introduction speech tailored to airline selection criteria.
Announcement Practice Tool
Practice reading standard pre-flight, boarding, and safety announcements to polish your pronunciation and modulation.
💄 2. Aviation Grooming Standards
Airlines have exceptionally strict appearance guidelines. Toggle categories, check your tattoo alignment, and match your makeup palette to specific airlines:
Aviation Grooming Code
Airlines have strict visual standards. Toggle gender categories to view requirements.
Hair Standards
Must be tied back in a neat donut bun secured with a black hairnet. No flyaway baby hair allowed. Shoulder-length or short hair should be styled in a neat bob with no loose strands framing the face. Natural hair colors only.
Makeup Rules
Flawless foundation base matching your natural skin tone. Bright lipstick (red, plum, or deep rose pink is mandatory for airlines like IndiGo). Subtle eyeshadow in neutral brown/gold tones. Well-defined eyebrows and neat eyeliner.
Interview Dress Code
Crisp white short-sleeved formal shirt (to inspect scars/tattoos on arms) and a knee-length pencil skirt. Clean skin-colored sheer stockings. Formal black or dark blue pump heels (2-3 inches height, no block heels).
Nails & Accessories
Nails must be well-shaped and polished with French manicure or solid red/pink polish matching your lipstick. Jewelry is restricted to simple pearl/stud earrings and a single classic round-dial watch with leather/metal strap.
Hair & Face
Short, crew-cut hairstyle with hair away from ears and collar. Neatly styled with light hair wax or gel (non-greasy). Completely clean-shaven look is highly recommended for interviews. Note that while Air India recently updated grooming guidelines to allow neatly trimmed and maintained short beards for active crew, remaining clean-shaven for the initial recruitment walk-in is still the safest and most preferred strategy to pass screening.
Attire Guidelines
Well-tailored dark suit (black, grey, or navy) with a crisp, long-sleeved light-colored shirt and matching formal tie. Dark formal socks. Polished leather Oxford or Derby formal lace-up shoes.
Skin & Hygiene
Face must be moisturized and non-oily. Acne scars or blemishes should be covered using light concealer if possible. Clean teeth with fresh breath. Apply subtle, fresh cologne (avoid heavy scents).
Accessories & Grooming
Fingernails must be short, clean, and neatly filed. No nail polish. Jewelry is limited to a single wedding band (if applicable) and a classic professional watch with leather or metal band. No visible piercings/tattoos.

🧘 Presence, Fitness & Posture
How you carry yourself projects immediate poise and cabin readiness. Pay close attention to these parameters:
Many international carriers (Emirates, Qatar, AirAsia) test your ability to reach 212 cm on tiptoes with arms extended. Practice this at home by marking a spot on your wall to ensure you can reach it easily with both hands.
Stand tall with shoulders relaxed and rolled back. Keep hands folded politely in front (females) or resting naturally at the side/back (males). Avoid slouching or keeping hands in pockets.
Practice walking in a straight line with slow, measured steps. For female candidates, walking confidently in formal 2-3 inch pump heels is crucial for the catwalk evaluation rounds.
Airlines check BMI strictly. Maintain a healthy range: 18–22 for female candidates, and 18–25 for male candidates. Keep hydrated and follow a clean lifestyle.
Widebody and international carriers require cabin crew to swim 50 meters unassisted. While domestic carriers don’t check this at interviews, learning basic swimming beforehand will make your mandatory water safety training much easier.
